We receive a lot of inquiries about our beloved Basye House so we thought it might be easiest to share a little information here, on our webpage. The home was built in 1850 by Architect John McMurtry for the T.D. Basye family. Designed in the Italianate style, Basye House originally sat on 160 acres (100 acres were gifted from Mrs. Basye's father) but with time and through surrounding development, she now resides on just under 6 acres in Fayette County, KY. Basye House is listed with the National Register of Historic Places as well as the Blue Grass Trust. Students of Achitecture or those with a love of older homes can find out more on her history at either of these great organizations. While she is a privately owned residence, her current owners love to host events such as art shows, wellness seminars, equestrian workshops, fundraisers, dinners, etc. Click on the Events link to find out what's happening either at Basye or one of the many surrounding venues.
